International MBA in agribusiness

The objective of the Dutch-Russian LEC project is to improve the practical know-how and technical skills of management and specialists in the field of animal health and animal nutrition on Russian corporate farms in the pig and milk production sector. The LEC-project will improve the results on these farms, which leads to imp efficiency, growing and stable market positions and new business opportunities for Dutch-Russian agribusiness companies.

Wageningen University offers with partner universities in Moscow, Kazan and Belgorod an international part-time MBA program in agribusiness with a special focus on livestock management. The MBA program is aiming at a European accreditation by AGRIMBA (agrimba.sggw.waw.pl/) and consists of the following seven modules :

1. Economic environment of the livestock sector and international law;
2. Strategic and operational management in agribusiness;
3. Marketing and trade;
4. Logistics with special attention to the livestock sector;
5. Accounting and financing;
6. Applied animal health and animal nutrition for pigs and dairy cows;
7. Writing a thesis.

All modules focus on the local (Russian) situation. The modules, including the final thesis, are programmed such to allow completion of the whole program in about two years. Each individual student will be free to prepare his or her own route through the course, moving at their own speed. Each module includes 80 hours of tuition and 80 hours of directed individual study. The MBA program will start on January 25, 2010 in Kazan and Belgorod, and the fee is € 2400 for the whole program.

The three main target groups for the MBA are:
1. Corporate farm managers;
2. Members of investment companies and government agencies;
3. Teachers of universities and practical training centres.
